AECOM International South Sudan (AISS)-VISTAS is implementing a Conflict Mitigation program funded by USAID. The program is working in six states and is implementing in-kind grants in support of communities affected by destabilizing conflict. VISTAS is seeking applications from interested South Sudanese nationals for the position of a Construction Supervisor.
Job Title: Construction Supervisor
Duty Station: Rumbek, Lakes State.

Report to: Senior Engineer.
Start Date: January 2016
Areas of Responsibility:
Undertake technical assessments for small scale community infrastructure projects, including government buildings schools, bridges, water points, health centers, community centers, etc.
Prepares designs as needed, including technical specifications and accurate BoQ for RFPs and RFQs for small scale community infrastructure projects.
Participates in bid analysis on RFPs and RFQs, especially with respect to technical quality and appropriate technical approaches;
Works with AISS-VISTAS subcontractors on site identification, handover of the site from grantees and or government and on site layout of construction projects;
Provide technical writing in English and provide clear and concise English communication over email or phone.
Monitors the progress and quality of work of AISS-VISTAS subcontractors with respect to contract deadlines, scope of work, and deliverables;
Becomes very familiar with the construction drawings, scope of work and schedule of projects to ensure subcontractor complies with the planned work;
Monitors the appropriate use of materials on projects and compliance with design documents and technical specifications;
Maintains a monitoring log book and writes weekly technical reports on project progress and constraints (template will be provided) and any other status reporting that may be requested by the Senior Engineer or Senior Management;
Works closely with local communities to ensure wide participation on the implementation of projects.
Coordinates all the different partners on the ground in the implementation of projects.
Represents AISS-VISTAS in meetings and ceremonies as needed.
Any other duties that might be assigned to him/her by the Senior Engineer and /or RPM

University Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering.
Ability to create designs and BOQ calculations.
Familiarity with working with sub contractors.
At least 3 years proven experience in building construction, preferably in South Sudan
Extensive experience writing construction progress reports, reading construction drawings, and inspecting construction works
Ability and willingness to work in remote areas.
Outgoing personality with excellent communication skills.
Good team player, flexible and capable of working with a multinational country team
Extensive prior use of MS Word, Excel and email; AutoCAD a plus.
Speaks and writes English well
