If so, we are looking for a Finance Manager to join our busy and dynamic Corporate Services Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the team delivers effective financial and procurement services to the whole Embassy.
The British Embassy in Sudan is part of a world-wide network of 230 Posts, representing British political, economic, consular, defence interests and development objectives overseas. Our Office in Khartoum has over 200 staff.
The Finance Manager will report directly to the Head of Corporate Services.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Day-to-day management of the Embassy’s budget, ensuring spending remains on budget and maximising value for money.
Prepare annual, monthly and ad hoc budget reports as necessary.
Ensure compliance with correct accounting procedures and that appropriate key performance indicators (KPIs) are met.
Manage the end of month, quarterly and yearly account procedures.
Review and authorise expenditure for all spend within the Embassy.
Review cash and fund levels to ensure the Embassy has enough funds to make its payments.
Coordinate accounting and finance services to the Partners Across Government as required (e.g. UK Ministry of Defence and Department for International Development).
Manage a team of two officers in the Accounts Section.
Implement existing corporate policies and best practices on procurement, ensuring the mission achieves maximum value for money.
Support and assist with logistics for diplomatic staff arrivals and departures.
Provide support to the Head of Corporate Services.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus.
Ability to work with contacts and colleagues at all levels.
Personal drive and the ability to be a self-starter as well as a team player.
Strong organizational, analytical and time management skills, with very good attention to detail.
Flexible, resilient under pressure and decisive with a proven track record of delivering results to a high standard within tight deadlines.
Willingness to work additional/flexible hours as necessary.
Strong IT computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, Internet and MS Project.
Extensive experience with Oracle systems and databases.
Minimum Qualifications :
A college/university level degree in Business Management or equivalent experience is preferred;
At least 5 years of management or administrative experience in a managerial capacity. At least 2-4 years experience managing staff;
Background in accounting, finance, budgets essential;
Fluent in English, orally and in writing, required; additional fluency in Arabic would be beneficial but not necessary

The British Embassy offers a competitive remuneration package, including salary, benefits, a leave entitlement and training package. Specific training and mentoring for the role will be provided for the successful candidate. This will include training in London and the region. The successful candidate is expected to commence employment on 1 December 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.
